Halloween In Logan Square

My wife and I moved into the Chicago neighborhood of Logan Square in 1992. We both love Halloween.
On our first Halloween in our new neighborhood, we decided to give out quarters to each kid, which almost left us in financial ruin. After going through what seemed like a mortgage payment, we switched to dimes, then nickels... How can one prepare for approximately 800 trick-or-treaters in the course of a few hours? This was a weeknight. Doesn't anyone have homework to do?
Each year we average 600 to 800 sugar-buzzed kids, not to mention the adults. We look forward to things getting back to the old normal after this Covid thing has run its course.
